French-Milled Soaps: Our artisan vegetable soaps are hand-crafted in small batches and are French-Milled so they will last longer than most handmade cold process soaps. They are septic safe, biodegradable, low sudsing, and mildly moisturizing— perfect for the dry Fairbanks winter. Only the finest quality essential oils, perfumes and purifying exfoliants (dried plant materials or glacial silt) are added to each batch. Irritating, overpowering perfumes are avoided. Bars will have irregularities.
What is French-Milling? Cold-process soap is manufactured from quality vegetable oils, and allowed to cure to a neutral pH for four to six weeks. Once cured, the soap is grated, then re-melted with a small quantity of water to make a harder, longer-lasting soap with the same smooth, silky feel as cold process soap. Essential oils and other ingredients are also added at the re-melting stage, so you get the full arometherapeutic properties of the essential oils- they are not degraded by exposure to high pH.
